O Little Town of (fill in the blank) (re-post)

(... the following is a re-post from 19 December 2010)

O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie;
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
the everlasting Light,
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
What town do you live in? Whatever the town, wherever the place, its streets are dark and it's filled with people in need of the Light. Jesus is the everlasting Light who shines through the darkness of our life in this world, bringing the only hope. The. Only. Hope.

How silently, how silently,
the wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
the blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.
God incarnate, a wondrous gift indeed! Jesus is our living Savior and there is only one way to receive Him ~ meekly, as someone who knows they are separated from God because of the sin in their lives. Humbly call out to Him, in full knowledge that you have nothing to give in return. Ask Him into your heart, submit fully to Him, let go of the reins of your life and give them to Him. Ask that He become Lord of your life. He will enter in to those who receive Him meekly, forgiving their sins because He died for your specific sins on Calvary's cross. Receive that forgiveness ~ a wondrous gift indeed!

O holy Child of Bethlehm,
descend to us we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in,
be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide in us, our Lord Emmanuel!
Then His Spirit will descend into your heart and you will be born again. You will be a new creation. You'll still be living in the body of flesh, born of your natural parents. But there will now be a new life in there as well, born of the seed of His Holy Spirit. The glad tidings are that this new life is eternal. It begins when we receive Jesus Christ as Savior. This new life grows as we submit to His plans and purposes for us here on earth. This new life will one day be present with Him for ALL eternity. The natural body born of your parents will perish, but the new creation that is you in Christ will have a heavenly body for all eternity. What hope! What joy! What LOVE!

Where will you spend eternity? Choose to be forever with God in Christ! That's why you're here, to make this choice. The only eternal decision you'll ever make.
